AI VS HUMANS

by Kanishka Chandramohan

Long ago, Stephen Hawking said, “The development of full Artificial Intelligence could spell the end of the human race.” One of the most debated topics is whether Artificial Intelligence is a threat to humanity or not. There have been several arguments on whether AI is a cause for concern. .

Several people have invested in AI, and some have even warned us about it. Is AI a threat to humans? Will AI replace humans? To answer this question, the World Economic Forum has predicted that AI will replace 85 million jobs by 2025. You could also be one of the people whose job is taken away by AI. The first job affected by artificial intelligence is in the tech industry. Many departments in the tech industry will be mostly replaced by AI, with a smaller number of workers.

How will this affect humans? Everything in this world runs on technology, including politics, economics, and even schools. AI influences the thinking of a person and a person views. . AI will slow down people’s abilities to think for themselves. AI is like Ethylene Glycol, it tastes sweet, but it is poisonous. The first thing it starts to attack is our ability to think. It slowly starts to blur our minds. Imagine telling an AI to write an article for you. Where is your creativity? What did you learn? It starts to cloud your brain. You will slowly become dependent on AI, and it’s quite scary because you start asking AI to do small tasks. Is that person you? Are those your views?

People who invest in AI promise that we, the people, will development a human-friendly AI.   AI does not have the capability for empathy and compassion. AI cannot feel what it is like to be happy or sad. As AI does not have empathy it could lead to destruction.

The next AI is Generative Artificial Intelligence, which lets the AI think and act on its own. Will this new AI consider us equals or will it consider us less than? According to the AI, we might be the animals, and they are the humans.

AI is the next massive change of this generation, and people who invest in AI are not scared of their profits and returns. On the other side, several celebrities have joined the fight against AI, like Scarlett Johansson, Keanu Reeves,  and others.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and X (formerly Twitter), has a conflicting perspective. He said that Artificial Intelligence will completely replace humans, making us  irrelevant Musk says that he is concerned that self-learning AI systems might become hostile to the human species. One of the biggest reasons for his fight against AI is that computers are  advancing so quickly and unpredictably that it could eliminate countless jobs, flood us with disinformation, and—as a wave of panicky headlines reported— destroy humanity.’ One of his famous lines about AI is “AI is far more dangerous than nukes.” But what is funny about this is that Musk himself created an AI ‘xAI’

The growth of AI, on one hand, is a good thing, but the exponential and unpredictable growth of AI will cause issues for humanity. It is believed that it will slowly start affecting the thinking of people because when the AI starts to think for you; we humans will not be thinking.

Lastly, some believe that AI will bring positive changes, and some believe that AI will bring negative effects. Whatever it is, AI will certainly have a huge impact on today’s world, whether it is a positive or negative change remains to be seen. This will certainly make significant changes to humanity.
