EMMA! A Pop Musical at HHS

The Mainstage’s Ensemble’s production of Emma! A Pop Musical is coming to HHS this Thursday (3/12). Tickets cost $20 for general admission, and $15 for students, seniors, and staff. It runs for about 90 minutes, with a 15 minute intermission. In Eric Price’s debut musical, Emma, a teenager based on Emma Woodhouse from Jane Austen’s Emma, tries to get her friend, Harriet, a date by the end of the school year. The mainstage ensemble has worked on this production since December. “I like that I get to pretend to play the guitar,” junior Lucius George, an actor since the eighth grade, said of playing Franklin Churchill IV. “It is really fun to be a rockstar.” The play is a jukebox musical, meaning that it mostly uses pre-existing songs, rather than original compositions. George said he is most excited to sing “Heartbreaker” by Pat Benatar and “Stay (I Missed You)” by Lisa Loeb. You seat yourself, and there will be performances starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, as well as a matinee, starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday. “I love Mainstage, and everyone is so talented,” said George. Come see the theater department’s hard work pay off!
