During the month of October, countries all around the globe will be spreading breast cancer awareness. In America, alarmingly one in eight women will develop breast cancer, and there are over 200,000 U.S. cases per year. Though breast cancer is more common among women, men can develop this form of cancer, as well. About 2,600 men are diagnosed with breast cancer a year.
This annual international health campaign during the month of October is organized by immense breast cancer charities. We, as a country, should spread awareness because it will encourage both men and women to get checked. Breast cancer, if found early, is treatable, which is why this campaign is so important. It helps to raise much needed money for research in finding a cure, prevention, and the cause of this devastating disease.
