HHS Chamber Choir

In preparation for the October 13 competition at the Chamber Choir Festival at WCSU, Hamden’s Chamber Choir is preparing two acapella songs: “You Are the New Day,” originally performed by the King’s Singers, and “Rockin’ Jerusalem,” by St. Olaf Choir.

Under the direction of Dr. Stephen Baranski, students are learning vocal dictation (controlling and varying volume and enunciation) and balance (listening to other singers in order to fit in musically).

At the recent Symposium of Sound, the Chamber Choir gave the audience a taste of what they do with the song “Aquarius” from the 1970’s musical “Hair.” Being a part of Choir takes dedication along with talent, and this group has both.
